LEWISTON — Andrew Carignan scored two goals and assisted on another, and second-ranked Thornton Academy knocked off No. 1 Biddeford 4-3 in the Western Class A boys’ hockey championship game Tuesday night at the Colisee in Lewiston.

Carignan’s second goal with 7:14 remaining gave Thornton (16-5) a 4-2 lead, and the Trojans held on after Biddeford’s Brady Fleurent scored his second goal of the game with 3:38 left.

CJ Maksut and Jonathan Pate also scored for the Trojans, who will face either Lewiston or St. Dom’s in the state championship game at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Colisee.

It’s the eighth straight win for Thornton, which avenged two regular-season losses to Biddeford (16-1-3).
