FALMOUTH — A home on Gray Road was destroyed by fire tonight, forcing the town to close a section of the road for several hours.

A Falmouth dispatcher said the fire at 481 Gray Road was reported just before 7  p.m. Crews are still at the scene.

When firefighters arrived, they found the home, which was unoccupied, engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Cumberland, Gray, North Yarmouth and Portland are helping Falmouth fight the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
