NEW FACES

Dale Powers joined Winxnet in Portland as a help desk technician.

Powers has more than 15 years of technical support and training experience, as well as a technical writing background. Powers has worked for the CD replication; capacitor manufacturing; human-machine interface; bar code printing and radio frequency identification encoding, and health and insurance industries.

Jim Simunaci joined Eco-story in Portland as vice president of sales. Simunaci will focus on national accounts in the retail, restaurant and hospitality industries.

He previously held sales, marketing and managerial positions for various lighting companies, including Diogen LED Lighting, Galleria Lighting & Design and Sea Gull Lighting Products.

Sarah Castro joined Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker as the CPA and management consulting firm’s marketing data coordinator.

Castro, of Portland, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2009 with a degree in marketing and previously completed an internship as a research assistant at the Maine International Trade Center.

Peter Wilkie joined Allied Engineering as its commissioning agent. Wilkie will be performing building commissioning services for the firm. He was previously with IB Controls in Windham.

Judy Knaub joined Harbor Technologies as chief financial officer.

Knaub will help oversee the company’s strategic endeavors. She has more than 25 years of experience in the finance arena. Most recently, she served as CFO for Woodard & Curran, a consulting and engineering firm based in Portland.

Cathy Goodwin joined the staff of Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, as the senator’s state office representative for York County.

Goodwin has been president and chief executive officer of the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce for 15 years. She will work in Collins’ Biddeford office.

PROMOTIONS

Adam Cote was promoted to chief executive officer of Thermal Energy Storage of Maine LLC.

In his new role, Cote will direct all aspects of marketing and outreach efforts to introduce electric thermal storage technology to Maine, New Hampshire and beyond. He will also work with the chief operating officer and the chief financial officer to meet sales goals.

Morgan Allarie was named retail leader for the western area of KeyBank’s Maine District.

Allarie was previously manager of KeyBank’s Brunswick branch. Before joining KeyBank in 2010, she worked for Bank of America, where she served as vice president and branch manager in Maine and Boston for five years.

Meg Fleming was promoted to director of sales for SymQuest Group’s Maine region office in Westbrook.

Fleming has worked at SymQuest for more than 18 years based out of the South Burlington, Vt., office. She was most recently director of services and managed the organization of more than 40 people.

AWARDS and RECOGNITION

The following individuals were recently recognized by the Maine Dental Access Coalition as its Oral Health Heroes.

This year’s winners include: state Rep. Meredith Strang Burgess, Robert R. Berube, D.D.S., David R. Kerr, D.D.S., Jonathan Shenkin, D.D.S., M.P.H., and the Dental Wellness Center in Biddeford.

Berube, an oral surgeon in Augusta, and Kerr, a general dentist in Falmouth, have spent the past year on a committee formed in response to a legislative directive, A Resolve: To Study Expenditures for Oral Health in the MaineCare Program.

Shenkin, who is a pediatric dentist in Augusta, has been a longtime supporter of public health policy solutions to prevent disease.

The Dental Wellness Center is a model of collaborative action by the Biddeford Free Clinic, Community Dental and the York County Dental Society.

A Cumberland Republican, Burgess, the daughter of a dentist, is serving her third term as a legislator in House District 108 and is the co-chair of the Health and Human Services Committee.

Dana Morrell of Windham joined the American Angus Association, the largest beef breed association in the world.

Worthing & Going PA, a CPA firm with offices in Saco and Scarborough, has moved to 7 Portland Farms Road, Scarborough.

Kevin Carbin of Northeast Financial Services received the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist designation from the College of Financial Planning.

John Osborne, general manager of Hollywood Slots Hotel and Raceway, was named chairman of the board of directors for the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Osborne has held his position at Hollywood Slots since September 2009. He was previously vice president of operations and general manager of the Hollywood Casino Resort in Tunica, Miss., for nearly 12 years.
