AUGUSTA — Alexa Coulombe scored 15 points and blocked six shots to lead McAuley High to the Class A girls’ basketball state championship Saturday afternoon with a 39-23 victory over Hampden Academy at the Augusta Civic Center.

McAuley held the Broncos scoreless in the final quarter to complete a historic game – holding Hampden to the fewest points ever in a state championship game.

Allie Clement and Rebecca Knight each had 10 points for the Lions.  Michaela Stephenson scored 10 for Hampden.

The Broncos missed their first nine shots and fell behind 6-0, as Clement scored all the points for McAuley.
