NEW GLOUCESTER — Two men were seriously injured in a head-on crash this morning, according to Maine State Police.

Police responded to the accident near 89 Lewiston Road, also known as Route 100, just before 7 a.m.

The accident occurred when Joshua Campbell’s pickup truck veered into the opposite lane and struck a second pickup truck driven by Keith Rogers, Trooper Christopher Farley said. Campbell, 29, of Auburn, and Rogers, 42, of New Gloucester, are currently being treated at Central Maine Medical Center. While their injuries are serious, both men are expected to recover.

No other people were involved in the accident.

Authorities said speed was not a factor in the crash, which occurred on a straight stretch of Route 100. The accident shut down portions of the road for about an hour and a half.
