DELAND, Fla. — Kurt Schluter pitched seven shutout innings to lead Stetson to a 6-2 victory over the University of Maine in a college baseball game Tuesday.

Schluter struck out seven and held the Black Bears (1-6) to two hits and a walk. Brad Carlton homered and scored twice for the Hatters (6-1). Robert Crews had two hits, a run and an RBI.

Tyler Patzalek had an RBI single for Maine in the ninth.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

(1) OHIO STATE 82, PENN STATE 61: Jon Diebler had career highs of 30 points and 10 3-pointers, and visiting Ohio State (28-2, 15-2 Big Ten) routed Penn State (15-13, 8-9) to clinch at least a share of the Big Ten title.

Diebler went 5 of 6 from behind the arc in the first half as the Buckeyes built a 15-point lead. Freshman center Jared Sullinger added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior Talor Battle scored 18 points in his final regular-season home game for Penn State.

 

(6) PURDUE 75, ILLINOIS 67: JaJuan Johnson scored 23 points and E’Twaun Moore added 18 to help Purdue (25-5, 14-3 Big Ten) beat Illinois (18-12, 8-9) at West Lafayette, Ind.

D.J. Byrd added a career-high 16 points and Ryne Smith had a career-high nine rebounds for the Boilermakers, who overcame a 13-point deficit to win their seventh straight.

 

(14) FLORIDA 78, ALABAMA 51: Chandler Parsons and Vernon Macklin each scored 19 points, and Florida (23-6, 12-3 SEC) used a second-half surge to roll past Alabama (19-10, 11-4) at Gainesville, Fla.

Florida used a 10-0 run to build a double-digit lead and then pulled away to clinch at least a share of the conference title.

Trevor Releford led the Crimson Tide with 17 points.

 

(20) KENTUCKY 68, (21) VANDERBILT 66: Brandon Knight scored 17 points and Kentucky (21-8, 9-6 SEC) edged Vanderbilt (21-8, 9-6) at Lexington, Ky.

Terrence Jones added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats, who remained unbeaten at Rupp Arena under Coach John Calipari.

Festus Ezeli led the Commodores with 22 points and John Jenkins scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half as they rallied from a 15-point deficit to take the lead with 4:25 to play.

The Wildcats hit 7 of 8 free throws over the final 1:36 to win their 34th straight home game.

 

NEBRASKA 69, (22) MISSOURI 58: Lance Jeter scored 16 points and Nebraska (19-10, 7-8 Big 12) used a 17-2 second-half run to pull away from Missouri (22-8, 8-7) at Lincoln, Neb.

Marcus Denmon had 16 of his 19 points in the second half for Missouri.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

(23) IOWA STATE 72, KANSAS 36: Kelsey Bolte scored a game-high 17 points and Iowa State (21-8, 9-6 Big 12) pulled away from visiting Kansas (19-10, 6-9).

MEN’S HOCKEY

UMAINE: Junior forward Gustav Nyquist was named Hockey East player of the month. He had 10 goals and four assists in February, including a hat trick at New Hampshire on Feb. 4. He had points in seven of eight games.
