Close to 1,500 fish were weighed in during the 11th annual Sebago Lake Rotary Derbyfest.

Though no one won the $100,000 cash prize for catching the largest togue on record, two fishermen tied for the first-place prize — a new Polar Craft fishing boat from Moose Landing Marina. Tom Noonan, the tournament’s director, said that in a rare fishing moment, Dave Donnelly of Windham and Zackery Geyer snagged the same fish at the same time. Both hooks were in the mouth of the fish, a 14.14-pound togue, when it was pulled out of the water.

That means the state record for togue — 31 pounds, 8 ouches set in 1958 — will stand for a bit longer.

Noonan said the fishermen signed an agreement to split the prize.

“I thought it was very sportsmanlike, the way they worked it out,” Noonan said.

The Sebago Lake Rotary Derbyfest has raised more than $600,000 for various charities over the years.
