AMHERST, Mass. – Caroline Stedman scored 23 points to lead top-seeded Amherst to a 72-37 victory over No. 3 Bowdoin in the championship game of the NESCAC tournament on Sunday afternoon.
Jaclyn Daigneault added 19 points and seven rebounds for the Lord Jeffs (26-1), who held the Polar Bears (22-5) to 23.8 percent shooting in the first half while building a commanding 34-16 lead.
Katie Bergeron scored 12 points for Bowdoin.
The Polar Bears hope to receive an at-large bid when the NCAA Division III tournament field is announced today.
(3) BAYLOR 82, (16) OKLAHOMA 81: Odyssey Sims matched a school record with nine 3-pointers and had 37 points, including the go-ahead basket in the closing seconds that helped the Bears (26-2, 13-1 Big 12) beat the Sooners (19-9, 9-5) in Norman, Okla.
(4) TENNESSEE 80, LSU 60: Angie Bjorklund scored 17 points and the Volunteers (28-2, 16-0 SEC) topped the Tigers (18-12, 8-8) in Knoxville, Tenn., to complete a ninth undefeated run through Southeastern Conference play.
(5) TEXAS A&M 68, TEXAS 65: Danielle Adams scored 26 points as the Aggies (24-3, 12-2 Big 12) beat the Longhorns (17-11, 6-8) in Austin, Texas.
(9) DUKE 66, (13) NORTH CAROLINA 58: Jasmine Thomas scored 17 points and the Blue Devils (26-3, 12-2) beat the Tar Heels (22-7, 8-6) in Durham, N.C., to clinch the top seed in the ACC tournament.
