Hundreds of competitors fanned out across Sebago Lake Saturday to drop hook and line through the ice in hopes of catching something big that might net them something bigger.

The Sebago Lake Rotary Derbyfest got under way Friday with two youth derbies, despite a snowstorm.

The main event started Saturday and continues today. As of press time Saturday, no one had caught a state-record-breaking togue good for a $100,000 cash prize.

But that could change: Experts say Sebago has the potential to cough up a fish bigger than the 31.5-pounder landed in Otis in 1958. Meanwhile, there were plenty of other fish to fry, including taking part in the Shaw’s Polar Dip.
