AMHERST, Mass. – Katie Bergeron scored a tournament-record 29 points to lead Bowdoin to a 79-63 win over Colby in semifinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s basketball tournament Saturday.

Amy Hackett added 14 points for the third-seeded Polar Bears (22-4). Jules Kowalski had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the No. 2 Mules (21-5).

SALVE REGINA 76, UNE 74: Erin Phillips had 30 points as the No. 1 Seahawks (25-3) held off the second-seeded Nor’easters (21-7) in the Commonwealth Coast Conference final at Newport, R.I.

Carrie Bunnell led UNE with 23 points and Margo Russell added 17.

ALBANY 66, MAINE 60: Cassandra Callaway scored 15 points to lead Albany (16-13, 9-7 America East) past visiting Maine (4-24, 2-14).

Brittany Williams scored 16 points for the Black Bears.

JOHNSON & WALES 76, ST. JOSEPH’S 66: Lamonte Thomas scored 33 points to help the second-seeded Wildcats (20-8) beat the top-seeded Monks (20-8) in the Great Northeast Atlantic Conference final at Standish.

Zach O’Brien scored 15 and Chris Petzy 13 for the Monks.

COLBY 2, MIDDLEBURY 1: Cody McKinney made 37 saves to help the sixth-seeded Mules (12-10-2) upset the third-ranked Panthers (11-8-6) in the NESCAC quarterfinals at Middlebury, Vt.

BOWDOIN 4, AMHERST 3: Colin Downey scored on an assist from Owen Smith with 1:31 left in overtime to lift the fifth-ranked Polar Bears (16-7-1) over the fourth-seeded Jeffs (12-9-4) in a NESCAC quarterfinal at Amherst, Mass.

USM 4, UMASS-BOSTON 1: Braely Torris stopped 60 shots as the sixth-seeded Huskies (8-12-5) beat the No. 3 Beacons (15-11) in an ECAC East quarterfinal.

NORWICH 10, UNE 2: Jack Nolin and Justin Miner scored for the Nor’easters (6-19), who lost to the top-seeded Cadets (18-5-3) in an ECAC East quarterfinal at Northfield, Vt.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, CONN. COLLEGE 1: Dominique Lozzi scored to break a 1-1 tie just over five minutes into the third period and lift the fourth-seeded Polar Bears (15-8-2) to a win over the No. 5 Camels (12-11-2) in the NESCAC quarterfinals at Brunswick.

PROVIDENCE 5, MAINE 2: The third-seeded Friars (22-11-1) scored four third-period goals to pull away from the sixth-seeded Black Bears (12-17-5) in a Hockey East quarterfinal at Providence, R.I.

Myriam Croussette and Dawn Sullivan scored for Maine.

USM 1, NEC 0: Kailey Bubier scored at 12:48 of overtime and Jordan Lee made 27 saves to lift sixth-seeded USM (8-16-2) over the No. 3 Pilgrims (12-8-6) in an ECAC East quarterfinal at Henniker, N.H.

AMHERST 5, COLBY 0: The second-seeded Jeffs (18-5-2) scored twice in the first three minutes and shut out the seventh-seeded Mules (9-16-0) in a NESCAC quarterfinal at Amherst, Mass.

SOFTBALL

MAINE LOSES TWO: Jennifer Eberhardt went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs as Maine (3-6) lost 5-2 against North Florida (5-8), then had a solo home run in a 6-3 loss to Central Florida (4-9), at Orlando, Fla.

BASEBALL

DALLAS SWEEPS BATES: The Bobcats fell to 2-4 with 7-1 and 7-6 losses against the Crusaders (7-2) at Irving, Texas.
