Portland Trails extends recipe contest deadline

Portland Trails is extending the deadline for its Trail Gourmet recipe contest. Submissions will be accepted until Tuesday.

As part of a series of events to celebrate the organization’s 20th anniversary, the recipe contest will explore the variety of food that can be enjoyed out on the trail.

People are encouraged to submit healthy, delicious recipes for on-the-go food inspired by Portland’s trails and southern Maine’s farms and gardens. The recipe should be for a hearty snack that can be packed and eaten on a trail.

Submissions will be judged in two categories, professional and amateur. Submissions should include a recipe named for a trail within the Portland Trails network; a brief explanation about why the name was chosen; a photograph of the finished dish; and the category in which the entrant chooses to be judged. E-mail submissions to info@trails.org.
