STANDISH — Ashley Geel and Allie Parent scored 12 points apiece to lead a balanced offense for No. 3-seed St. Joseph’s College as the Monks raced out to a 44-16 halftime lead and cruised to a 69-48 victory over No. 6 Emerson (9-17) in a women’s basketball GNAC quarterfinal on Tuesday night.

Abby Young chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds for the Monks (18-8), who will play at second-seeded Suffolk in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m.

UNE 68, WNEC 56: Carrie Bunnell scored 16 of her game-high 22 points in the first half as the second-seeded Nor’easters (20-6) built a seven point halftime lead and pulled away in the second half for a win over seventh-ranked Western New England College (14-12) in a Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinal at Biddeford.

Kelley Paradis added 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocks for the Nor’easters, who advance to host sixth-seeded Roger Williams in a semifinal game on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Chelsey Meszaros, Margo Russell, Kari Pelletier and Beth Suggs were the only other scorers for UNE with seven points apiece.
