ROCKLAND — A disabled fishing boat is on its way back to shore.
The Coast Guard is towing the Meridian back to Massachusetts. The 80-foot fishing vessel based out of New Bedford, Mass., had been stranded about 40 miles east of Rockland since Saturday evening. The boat’s generator had broken down.
The seas were too high for the dispatched patrol boat to tow the Meridian, according to Petty Officer 3rd Class Luke Clayton. A 270-foot cutter out of Boston was sent to tow the fishing boat.
