Mother Nature’s outpouring of snow this year meant the return of the annual Snowman Adventure, an event on Portland’s East End that combines costumes (not required, but recommended), a relay race on bike and foot, and sledding.
Saturday’s fun drew 42 two-person teams for the 4.5-mile bike ride, 2.25-mile run and obligatory opening and ending sled runs down the Eastern Promenade.
The winning time was 44 minutes, 36 seconds. Last place was … well, who cares?
The team wearing the best costume is applauded just as much as the team that crosses the finish line first.
