PORTLAND — Second-ranked Cape Elizabeth survived a scare, hitting eight foul shots in overtime to turn back No. 7 Wells 49-44 in the Western Class B quarterfinals today at the Portland Expo.

Cape trailed 36-29 entering the fourth quarter, but held Wells to eight points the rest of the way.

The Warriors, who lost twice to Cape in the regular season, forced the overtime when Paul McDonough hit a leaning 3-pointer with 1.6 seconds left in regulation.
