LIVERMORE FALLS — A Livermore Falls man was arrested today and charged with arson in connection with a fire that damaged a downtown business this week.
Fire investigators charged Scott Violette, 36, with arson and violating probation. He was arrested at the Livermore Falls police department, where he had been questioned earlier in the day.
The fire started by the front door of the Treasure Chest, a secondhand shop on Depot Street.
Violette, who lives in an apartment on the Depot Street, was taken to the Androscoggin County jail in Auburn. He is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
He is on probation for a previous arson conviction from a fire in Norridgewock in 2003, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.
