AUGUSTA — Maine election officials say enough voters’ signatures have been submitted to force a referendum on whether to allow a racino in Biddeford and a tribal racino in Washington County.
In his announcement today, Secretary of State Charles Summers noted that unless the Legislature enacts the measure without change, it will appear on the November ballot.
It’s the second petition the state’s certified as valid this year. A proposal to allow a slot machine facility also met the citizen initiative threshold.
