Claws trade ex-Northeastern star Spates to Springfield for forward Goodridge

The Maine Red Claws on Monday traded forward Eugene Spates for Springfield Armor forward Vernon Goodridge.

Goodridge, at 6-foot-9, 240 pounds, was the fifth overall pick in this year’s NBA Development League Draft.

Goodridge, 26, played at Mississippi State for two years before finishing his career at LaSalle.

Spates, a former Northeastern standout, averaged 16.3 minutes in 35 games this year for Maine. He averaged 6.2 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game.
