A fire destroyed a house at 758 Cape Monday Road in Harrison Friday night, and investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s Office have been called in to determine the cause.

Officials said the blaze, called in at 3 p.m. by a family member who found smoke, was under control by 6 p.m. Firefighters from six towns responded.

The fire does not look suspicious, according to Harrison fire officials, but the house was so thoroughly gutted that the Fire Marshal’s Office was called.

A family of five lived in the home, but no one was injured. The family dog died in the fire.
