BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The University of Maine overcame a 22-point first-half deficit to beat Binghamton 77-74 Saturday in an America East men’s basketball game.
Troy Barnies’ layup pulled the Black Bears (14-7, 8-1 America East) to within 71-69 with 4:16 left, and Raheem Singleton’s basket tied the game with 3:22 remaining. Mike Allison’s dunk gave Maine the lead for good with 1:34 to play.
Gerald McLemore led Maine with 23 points and Singleton added 17.
Mahamoud Jabbi led Binghamton (6-16, 3-6) with 19 points.
KEENE STATE 72, USM 67: Ollie Hunter scored eight of his 17 points in the final five minutes as the Owls (14-5, 6-3 Little East) pulled away from the Huskies (9-10, 1-8) at Gorham.
Devin Chambers scored 15 for USM.
ST. JOSEPH’S 80, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 77: Zach O’Brien scored 25 points, and the Monks (13-5, 10-1 GNAC) went on a late 6-0 run and held off the Falcons (9-9, 7-4) at Standish.
Tyler Kelley had 16 points and Chris Petzy scored 14 for St. Joseph’s.
BATES 58, CONN. COLLEGE 47: Nick Schmiemann had 13 points to lead a second-half comeback as the Bobcats (12-9, 3-3 NESCAC) defeated the Camels (10-10, 1-5) at Lewiston.
TRINITY 72, COLBY 40: Brian Ford scored 20 points to lead the Bantams (11-9, 2-3 NESCAC) over the Mules (9-10, 1-4) at Hartford, Conn.
Mike Russell led Colby with 11 points.
AMHERST 103, BOWDOIN 85: Aaron Twomey had 20 points as the Jeffs (18-0, 5-0 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (12-5, 2-3) at Amherst, Mass.
Bowdoin’s Will Hanley had 26 points and 12 rebounds.
UNE 58, WNEC 46: Ryan Knotek scored 24 points and the University of New England (3-16, 1-6 Commonwealth Coast) finished with an 11-0 run to get past Western New England (1-16, 1-6) at Biddeford.
NAVY PREP 101, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 82: Randall Laing had 18 points and Paul Holland scored 15 for the Seawolves (13-11) in a loss at home.
HOCKEY
HAMILTON 10, UNE 7: Joe Houk had two goals and four assists for the Continentals (10-6-2), who used eight second-period goals to take a 9-4 lead over the Nor’easters (3-14) at Biddeford.
Tyler Fleurent and Sean Sullivan each had a goal and two assists for UNE.
AMHERST 3, USM 0: Matthew Rhone and Andrew Kurlandski each had a goal and an assist and Cole Anderson made 19 saves as the Jeffs (8-6-4) shut out the Huskies (4-11-3) at Gorham.
USM’s Braely Torris stopped 26 shots.
COLBY 6, WILLIAMS 3: Michael Doherty broke a 3-3 tie with 37 seconds left in the second period, then added a goal in the third as the Mules (7-9-1, 6-6-1 NESCAC) held off the Ephs (10-5-2, 7-4-1) at Waterville.
MIDDLEBURY 4, BOWDOIN 2: Martin Drolet broke a 2-2 tie with a short-handed goal at 16:09 of the second as the Panthers (8-5-3, 6-4-2 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (13-4, 9-4) at Brunswick.
