Portland High School students Oliver Hagelin, playing Tony, and Rachel Garneau, playing Maria, rehearse a scene from “West Side Story,” which Portland High drama students will present at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the school’s auditorium.

The musical is set in 1950s New York City and features music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

The plot, based on William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” centers on the blossoming love between members of rival teenage gangs.

Tickets will be sold at the door. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens.
