WELLS – Alex Furness had a game-high 15 points to go with nine rebounds Wednesday night, leading Wells to a 60-55 victory against Old Orchard Beach in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy basketball game.
Furness hit 5 of 6 free throws in the second half for Wells (7-4), which made 7 of 13 in the fourth quarter.
Paul McDonough added 10 points for Wells. Jason Dutton and Andrew Fleury each scored 13 points for Old Orchard (8-3).
A.R. GOULD 77, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 17: Mekonnen Nigussie scored 19 points, Robert Roux added 11 and George Hopkins finished with 10 for the Bears (5-3) against the Lions (1-9) at South Portland.
Josh Thurlow had a team-high 10 rebounds for A.R. Gould.
YARMOUTH 93, LAKE REGION 40: Josh Britten scored a game-high 22 points for the Clippers (7-3) against the Lakers (2-8) at Naples.
Luke Pierce added 14 points and Alex Kapothanasis scored 11.
Kevin Gilson led Lake Region with 12 points.
BOOTHBAY REGION 69, LISBON 21: Kameron Markee scored a game-high 17 points for the Seahawks (9-2) against the Greyhounds (0-11) at Lisbon Falls.
Dan Dickinson added 10 points, Brian Hubbard had eight points and nine rebounds, and reserve Robbie Hallinan dished out six assists for Boothbay.
Mike Degou and Mason Smith led Lisbon with six points each.
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 60, HYDE 17: Asad Dahia scored 19 points and Mohamed Dahia added 10 to lead the Panthers (4-6) over the Phoenix (0-5) at Yarmouth.
Ben Burloch led Hyde with nine points.
RICHMOND 62, VALLEY 39: The Bobcats (8-1) grabbed a 21-2 lead in the first quarter and coasted past the Cavaliers (3-8) at Bingham.
Tommy Carter led Richmond with 21 points, Mike Christie added 12 and Kyle O’Brien 10. Josh West scored 22 points and Carrington Miller had nine for Valley.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
WAYNFLETE 73. HEBRON ACADEMY 50: Martha Veroneau scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Flyers (9-2) over the Lumberjacks (4-5) at Hebron.
Veroneau, a sophomore, made 13 field goals, including four 3-pointers and two free throws. She also had five assists.
Lydia Stegemann added 19 points and 15 rebounds, and Liz Lewis finished with 10 points.
Janelle Bradish had 16 points and Malorie Johnson added 12 for Hebron.
BOOTHBAY REGION 40, LISBON 31: Sarah Caron scored 19 points to lead the Seahawks (5-6) over the Greyhounds (3-8) at Lisbon Falls.
Alexandra Andrews added nine points for Boothbay. Denise Thomas scored 10 points to pace the Greyhounds.
HYDE 50, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 44: Sage Harris scored 13 of her game-high 33 points in overtime for the Phoenix (3-4) against the Panthers (4-7) at Bath.
Harris added three rebounds and seven steals, and drained the second of two free throws at the end of regulation to force overtime.
Katie Comeaux had 18 rebounds and five steals, and Lilly Smith grabbed 12 boards for Hyde.
Blair Haggett led NYA with 16 points.
WELLS 47, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 32: Kelsey Bragdon scored 15 points, Allison Furness added 10 and the Warriors (5-6) downed the Seagulls (4-8) at Old Orchard Beach.
The Warriors opened a 38-21 lead with a 14-7 run in the third quarter.
Gillian Foss had 17 points and 20 rebounds for the Seagulls.
THORNTON ACADE-MY 51, WESTBROOK 44: Meghan Agger had 17 points and seven steals for the Golden Trojans (2-8) against the Blue Blazes (3-7) at Saco.
Lauren Titus added 14 points for Thornton.
Ashley Richards led Westbrook with 14.
RICHMOND 44, VALLEY 41: Richmond (10-0) pulled away late to defeat the Cavaliers (8-3) at Bingham.
