Mainely Gold in Westbrook

The new jewelry store Mainely Gold has opened at 23 Bridgton Road, Suite 3, Westbrook, boasting an eclectic mix of merchandise and collectibles ranging from rocks and coins to estate and handcrafted jewelry.

The store specializes in a variety of gemstones, most notably watermelon tourmaline. It also buys and sells gold and silver.

Mainely Gold is the sister store to Kennebec Jewelry and Repair of Farmingdale and Harbor Stones of Boothbay Harbor. All locations were founded by Brett Leighton of Nobleboro. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. For more details, call 797-9621.

Family plans lumber store in Cumberland

Michael and Hilda Record have announced plans to open The Board Barn lumber sales store at 222 Gray Road, Cumberland, this month. The newly constructed, 7,200-square-foot space will sell quality pine and hemlock boards, framing lumber, posts and beams of all sizes, as well as wood pellets for heating and wood shavings for horse bedding.

The Record family also owns Record Building Supply and Record Lumber sawmill, both of Oxford.

Mike Biskup, of North Yarmouth, was hired to assist with marketing, sales and daily operations of the new store.

Katahdin Trust offers new services

Katahdin Trust Co. of Houlton has teamed with Intuit Financial Services to offer free mobile banking and text message banking services.

The mobile version of the bank’s online banking program allows customers to securely access account balances, transfer funds and make electronic bill payments using their Web-enabled mobile device. Text banking also allows customers to view account balances and transaction histories via SMS text.
