Gov. Paul LePage’s recent controversial remarks about the NAACP were featured on The Colbert Report on Monday night.

Stephen Colbert, host of the satirical late-night news program on Comedy Central, opened the show with a riff on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Colbert noted that the holiday is still “marred by controversy” and that Maine’s new governor had “caused a stir” when he said last Friday that the NAACP could “kiss my butt.”

Colbert made a few sarcastic comments about LePage issuing such an open invitation, then moved on to a humorous review of advertisements for King Day sales.
