SANFORD – Trevor Bates scored on a layup in traffic with 15 seconds left Thursday night as Westbrook survived a scare and downed Sanford 47-46 in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolboy basketball game.

Bates finished with 19 points. Sean Murphy added 11 for the Blue Blazes (7-1).

Ryan Camire scored 16 points and Jimmie Chaisson added 11 for Sanford (1-7), which led 24-20 at halftime.

NOBLE 67, GORHAM 64: Mitch Edmunds scored five of his team’s 10 points in overtime as the Knights (2-7) built a three-point lead and held off the Rams (1-7) at Gorham.

Edmunds finished with 18 points, and Justin Charest and Adam Della-Piana chipped in 13 points apiece.

Carter Bowers and Zach Spiers scored 18 points each for Gorham.

WELLS 56, POLAND 47: Alex Furness had 21 points to lead the Warriors (5-4) over the Knights (4-5) at Wells.

Josh Ingalls added 17 for Wells.

Jake Littlefield had 22 points for Poland, which pulled within four in the fourth quarter. Wells held on by going 10 for 12 at the foul line in the final quarter.

FALMOUTH 61, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 17: Jack Cooleen scored 13 points to lead 11 players with at least a point for the Yachtsmen (5-4) against the Raiders (1-8) at Fryeburg.

Alex Cattell, Mike Lafond and Matt Packard each had nine points for the Yachtsmen, who led 30-13 at halftime.

Colby Locke had six points for Fryeburg.

WINDHAM 78, MARSHWOOD 65: Nolan Allen finished with 33 points, Drew Gagnon had 20 and Jed Merrill added 13 to lead the Eagles (4-4) over the Hawks (5-2) at South Berwick.

Jack Verrill paced Marshwood with 22 points. Matthew Crosby added 15.

TRAIP ACADEMY 83, SACOPEE VALLEY 54: Nathan Westman scored 22 points and Alencio Martin added 13 to lead the Rangers (5-5) over the Hawks (1-7) at South Hiram.

Ryan Morse paced Sacopee Valley with 18 points. Jeff Taylor had 14 and Mike Anderson 13.

Taylor Baran and Matt Clifford added 11 points each for Traip, which ended the game on a 22-7 run.

THORNTON ACADEMY 61, SCARBOROUGH 56: Andrew Shaw made four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, and Eric Christensen added 11 points to pace the Golden Trojans (6-2) against the Red Storm (6-3) at Saco.

Zach Bean and Kyle Kelley scored 14 points apiece, Mike Wofford added 12 and Dillon Russo 10 for Scarborough.

CAPE ELIZABETH 89, FREEPORT 32: Theo Bowe and Joey Doane scored 21 points each as the Capers (8-1) cruised past the Falcons (0-9) at Cape Elizabeth.

Bowe added six assists. Cam Brown and Kyle Snowden had 10 points apiece for Cape Elizabeth.

Chandler Birmingham hit three 3-pointers for Freeport.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 65, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 54: Josh Farynaz and Adam Jensen scored 27 points apiece as the Patriots (6-3) downed the Panthers (3-5) at Yarmouth.

Farynaz and Jensen combined to make 20 foul shots for Gray-New Gloucester, which made 25 of 26 free throws.

Andrew Esancy scored 19 points and Eli Leavitt, who made four 3-pointers, finished with 17 points for the Panthers.

WAYNFLETE 43, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 40: Joe Veroneau had 16 points as the Flyers (5-4) edged the Seagulls (7-2) at Old Orchard Beach.

Ryan Gallant scored 12 points for the Seagulls.

CHEVERUS 63, BONNY EAGLE 34: Connor O’Neil scored 18 points and Louie DiStasio added 12 to lead the Stags (8-0) past the Scots (6-2) at Standish.

Cam Olson chipped in with 10 points for Cheverus, which led 25-1 after the first quarter.

Dustin Cole scored 16 points and Cole Libby added 10 for Bonny Eagle.

BIDDEFORD 52, KENNEBUNK 41: Robert Cote scored 19 points and Chance Baldino added 13 to lead the Tigers (2-6) past the Rams (1-7) at Kennebunk.

Matt Dube scored 13 points and Vann Brazz added 11 for Kennebunk, which led 26-23 at halftime.

GREELY 63, YORK 47: Sam Johnston scored 30 points and Liam Maker added 15 as the Rangers (9-1) handled the Wildcats (7-3) at York.

PORTLAND 6, YARMOUTH 3: Eddie Apon scored three straight goals in the second period for the Bulldogs (4-3) against the Clippers (4-4) at Portland.

Apon’s final goal made it 5-0.

Alex Kurtz had two goals and Eamon Costello also scored for Yarmouth.

YORK 5, CAPE ELIZABETH 3: Anthony Figlioli had two goals and two assists, and Craig Decato added a goal and two assists as the Wildcats (4-4) defeated the Capers (5-4) at Portland.

Vinny Dell’Aquila, Nick Breed and Matt Ross scored for Cape Elizabeth.

CONY 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER-POLAND 1: Dallas Clark scored two goals and Dakota Bowie added another as Cony (2-6-1) won at Kennebec Ice Arena.

Matt Swan had 30 saves for Cony.
