GORHAM — Kaylie DeMillo beat the final buzzer with a 3-pointer to lift the University of Southern Maine to a 74-71 victory over Rhode Island College in a Little East Conference women’s basketball game Tuesday night.

Courtney Cochran led the Huskies (8-6, 3-1 Little East) with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Haley Jordan added a career-high 16 points with seven rebounds against the Anchormen (10-3, 2-2).

 

UNE 86, CURRY 45: Kelley Paradis scored 16 of her game-high 19 points in the first half as the Nor’easters (9-5, 2-0 Commonwealth Coast) raced out to a 48-27 halftime lead and cruised to a win over the Colonels (8-3, 0-2) at Milton, Mass.

Kari Pelletier added 17 points for UNE.

BOWDOIN 67, BATES 61: Jill Henrikson scored 13 of her 16 points in the first half and Bowdoin (12-1) held off Bates (11-3) at Lewiston.

Kelsey Flaherty led the Bobcats with 15 points.

 

COLBY 76, HUSSON 56: Rachel Mack scored 15 points and Aarika Ritchie collected her 200th career assist to lead the Mules (10-2) to a win over the Eagles (2-9) at Bangor.

 

HOLYOKE CC 63, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 42: Christina Ricci had 14 points for the Seawolves (6-9) in a loss at Holyoke, Mass.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 112, HOLYOKE CC 80: Paul Holland made five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points and Josh Mackie scored 15 as the Seawolves (9-7) made 19 3-pointers and cruised to a win over the Cougars (5-9) at Holyoke, Mass.

 

USM 95, RIC 88: Corteze Isaac had 27 points and Otis Smith scored 21 with nine rebounds to lead the Huskies (9-5, 1-3 Little East) over the Anchormen (8-4, 3-1) at Gorham.

 

ST. JOSEPH’S 77, NORWICH 74: Zach O’Brien and Tyler Kelley each went 2 for 2 at the foul line in the final 31 seconds as the Monks (6-4, 3-1 GNAC) held off the Cadets (4-5, 0-2) at Standish.

CURRY 79, UNE 66: Sedale Jones scored 29 points to lead Curry (4-9, 2-0 Commonwealth Coast) over UNE (2-12, 0-2) at Milton, Mass.

Marcus Winn scored 20 points and Chas Rentrope added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Nor’easters.

 

BRANDEIS 53, BATES 50: Tyrone Hughes made two foul shots with 24 seconds left as the Judges (11-0) held off the Bobcats (8-6) at Lewiston.

Brian Ellis had 13 points and Mark Brust scored 12 for Bates.

 

(10) UCONN 67, RUTGERS 53: Alex Oriakhi had 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks as Connecticut (13-2, 2-2 Big East) beat visiting Rutgers (10-6, 1-3).

 

(12) TEXAS 83, TEXAS TECH 52: Tristan Thompson scored 20 points to lift Texas (13-3, 1-0 Big 12) over Texas Tech (8-9, 0-2) at Lubbock, Texas.

(13) KENTUCKY 78, AUBURN 54: Terrence Jones set a Kentucky freshman single-game scoring record with 35 points as the Wildcats (13-3, 1-1 SEC) rolled by visiting Auburn (7-9, 0-2).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

ST. ANSELM 3, BOWDOIN 2: Courtney Winters scored her third goal of the game 53 seconds into overtime, lifting the Hawks (10-3) to a win over the Polar Bears (7-4-1) at Manchester, N.H.

Bowdoin opened the scoring on a goal by Emily Tang midway through the first period and took a 2-1 lead on Dominique Lozzi’s goal late in the second period.

FIELD HOCKEY

BOWDOIN: Nicky Pearson was named Dita/NFHCA Division III Coach of the Year for the third time.
