Pete Lamontagne of Biddeford searches Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk with his metal detector Monday as shallow water reflects a fence. Lamontagne found a ring and a few coins, but said he searches beaches because he likes to be outdoors. “The thing I find the most out here is serenity,” he said.
