The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 16-year-old male from Raymond on Monday and charged him with multiple vehicle burglaries in Casco that occurred between midnight and 4 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9.
Deputies Pete Anderson and Tony Hovey found the juvenile after following footprints and bicycle tire tracks to a home in a Casco neighborhood where he was spending the night. The juvenile told Deputy Anderson that he stole items from at least 25 unlocked cars located on Libby Road, Luke Road, Thomas Pond Shores Road and Cedar Street.
Cell phones, compact discs, DVDs, money, global positioning system devices and sunglasses are among the items residents reported stolen from their cars. The juvenile has been charged with five counts of burglary and five counts of theft. He was released into the custody of his parents.
The Sheriff’s Office has returned several items to victims, but has more unclaimed property. The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who hasn’t already reported a theft to call Cumberland County Dispatch at 893-2810.
