LEWISTON – Bates ended the first half on a 17-7 run to open a 32-20 halftime lead, then pulled away for a 77-40 victory over Maine Maritime Academy in a women’s basketball game Friday night.

Christine McCall added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Bobcats (11-2) and Taryn O’Connell scored 11 points. Annie Burns contributed nine points, eight assists and six steals.

Maggie Smith scored 15 points for the Mariners (5-5).

MEN’S HOCKEY

ST. ANSELM 4, USM 3: Greg Covo scored 3:55 into overtime to lift the Hawks (5-3, 3-3 ECAC East) over the Huskies (4-5-2, 2-4) at Gorham.

Dan Rautenberg had one goal and one assist for the Huskies and Jon Rutt added a pair of assists. Paul Conter and David Nies each scored one goal and Braely Torris finished with 36 saves.

ST. MICHAEL’S 5, COLBY 2: Alex Higgins had a goal and two assists to help the Purple Knights (5-5) down the Mules (2-7-1) at South Burlington, Vt.

Reave MacKinnon and Josh Geary added a goal and an assist each for St. Michael’s.

Matt Rappaport and Wil Hartigan scored for Colby.

NORWICH 5, BOWDOIN 3: Chad Anderson scored twice from Scott Schroeder to help the Cadets (7-4-1) past the Polar Bears (7-2) at Northfield, Vt.

Tory Allan gave Norwich a 2-1 lead with 1:36 left in the second. Anderson and Pier-Olivier Cotnoir scored 40 seconds apart midway through the third to make it 4-1.

Timothy McGarry had a goal and an assist and Robert Toczylowski had two assists for Bowdoin, which was outshot, 42-17.

NEC 3, UNE 2: Brett DiClementi scored at 2:33 of overtime to lift New England College (3-5-1, 2-4 ECAC) over the University of New England (2-8, 0-6) at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Adam Laite gave the Nor’-easters the lead at 9:50 of the second. Tyler Fleurent scored 45 seconds into the third for UNE to force overtime.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

COLBY 3, HOLY CROSS 2: Tasha Rivard scored two goals and Brianne Wheeler finished with 33 saves to lift the Mules (5-7) over the Crusaders (9-3) at Waterville.

Meghan Tedoldi scored for Colby to break a 2-2 tie with 6:59 left in the second period.
