WESTBROOK – Katelyn Benson scored 20 of her 24 points in the second half as Westbrook held off Portland for a 54-48 victory Friday night in an SMAA schoolgirl basketball game.

Paige Baldwin added 11 points for the Blue Blazes (2-4), who led 23-22 at halftime.

Nicolette Kapothanasis paced the Bulldogs (1-5) with 14 points.

CHEVERUS 60, MASSABESIC 41: Morgan Cahill scored 18 points to lead Cheverus (6-1) to a win over Massabesic (3-3) at Waterboro.

The Stags outscored the Mustangs 19-7 in the second period for a 36-18 halftime lead.

Victoria Nappi added 14 points and Brooke Flaherty scored 13 for Cheverus.

Cassidy Mathews scored 11 for the Mustangs.

SOUTH PORTLAND 64, NOBLE 45: Abby Hasson scored 17 points as the Red Riots (4-3) downed the Knights (2-5) at North Berwick.

Danica Gleason and Stephanie McDonough added 11 points apiece for South Portland, which built a 44-28 halftime lead.

Brittany Racicot led Noble with 13 points.

CAPE ELIZABETH 39, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 24: Kate Miklavic scored nine points to lead the Capers (5-2), who led 15-14 at halftime before pulling away from the Patriots (2-4) in the second half at Gray.

Alicia Valente had nine points for Gray-New Gloucester, which led 7-1 after the first period.

MCAULEY 69, SCARBOROUGH 32: Alexa Coulombe had a triple-double with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks, and also had five steals as the Lions (6-0) downed the Red Storm (1-6) at Portland.

Allie Clement also scored 19 for McAuley, and Becca Knight added 13 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Scarborough was led by Brittany Bona and Alisha Starbird with six points apiece.

DEERING 53, THORNTON ACADEMY 46: Kayla Burchill led a 12-0 run in the third quarter, scoring six of her 30 points to help the Rams (7-0) pull away from the Trojans (1-5) at Saco.

Lauren Titus led Thornton with 16 points and Hannah Ebling chipped in 12.

YORK 70, YARMOUTH 20: Stephanie Gallagher had 19 points and Nicole Taylor scored 12 as the Wildcats (8-0) cruised to a win over the Clippers (1-6) at Yarmouth.

Olivia Smith had nine points to pace the Clippers.

FALMOUTH 54, POLAND 22: Anna Hickey scored 14 points and Jess DiPhilippo added 13, leading Falmouth (5-2) to a victory over the Knights (1-6) at Poland.

Morgan Copp led Poland with nine points and Regina Maheux had 11 rebounds.

BONNY EAGLE 50, MARSHWOOD 45: Jessica MacDonald scored six of her eight points as the Scots (4-3) went on a 12-2 run in the final five minutes to wipe out a five-point deficit and defeat the Hawks (2-5) at South Berwick.

Alicia Hoyt led Bonny Eagle with 16 points and Sarah Assante scored 11.

Aubrey Folger paced Marshwood with 12 points and Nicole Lachance added 11.

GORHAM 61, KENNEBUNK 28: Mia Rapolla scored seven of her 15 points in the first quarter as Gorham (6-1) built an 18-6 lead at Kennebunk (0-5).

Janelle Bouchard had nine rebounds for Kennebunk.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 45, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 38: Gillian Foss scored 15 points, and Katie Hatch added 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Seagulls (3-5) past the Panthers (3-4) at Old Orchard Beach.

Old Orchard took control in the third quarter, outscoring NYA 17-4 to build a 10-point lead.

Blair Haggett finished with 14 points to pace the Panthers.

GREELY 42, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 22: Caroline Hamilton made three 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 11 points as the Rangers (7-1) raced to a 14-2 first-quarter lead in a win over the Raiders (3-4) at Fryeburg.

Megan Coale and Sarah Warnock added seven points apiece for Greely, which held Fryeburg to eight points through the first three quarters.

Katie Heggie paced the Raiders with seven points.

GEORGES VALLEY 41, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 31: Kennadi Grover scored 10 points as the Buccaneers (4-4) jumped out to a 29-16 halftime lead to beat the Mustangs (3-5) at Thomaston.

Jill Bradbury added seven points for Georges Valley.

Sierra Spencer paced Monmouth with eight points.

RICHMOND 46, FOREST HILLS 25: Brooke Lancaster had 14 points, six rebounds and six steals as the Bobcats (6-0) cruised to a win over the Tigers (3-6) at Jackman.

Payton Johnson scored six of her eight points during a 14-1 fourth-quarter run as Richmond pulled away late.

Dana McNally led Forest Hills with seven points.

BRUNSWICK 66, ERSKINE ACADEMY 40: Dakota Foster scored six of her game-high 15 points in the first quarter as the Dragons (5-2) opened with an 11-0 run and cruised to a win over the Eagles (1-7) at Brunswick.

Lydia Caputi added 11 points for Brunswick and Becky Champagne scored nine, including seven in the first quarter.

Esrkine was led by Jessica Souther, who scored 10 points.

LIVERMORE FALLS 45, MADISON 31: Katherine Ventrella scored 15 points to lead the Andies (7-1) past the Bulldogs (4-4) at Madison.

Marissa Welch added 14 points for Livermore Falls.

JAY 42, CARRABEC 29: Beth Moore had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Alexis Blodgett also scored 15 as the Tigers (7-1) defeated the Cobras (3-5) at North Anson.

CONY 39, OXFORD HILLS 28: Crystal Clark had 10 points and eight rebounds, and Cony (4-4) overcame a 23-20 deficit in the fourth period to beat Oxford Hills (3-5) at South Paris.

Ashley West scored 15 points, all on 3-pointers, to lead Oxford Hills.

HOCKEY

YARMOUTH 3, CHEVERUS 2: Ariel Potter had two goals and an assist, leading the Clippers (2-6) past the Stags (7-3) at Yarmouth.

Potter assisted on a power-play goal by Alicia Piccirillo at 2:47 of the second period to give Yarmouth a 1-0 lead, then scored at 12:25 of the period to make it 2-0.

Katie Roy pulled the Stags within 2-1 with a power-play goal with 48 seconds left in the second.

Potter scored again early in the third and Paige Lucas scored for the Stags in the final minute.
