AUGUSTA — Gov. Paul LePage announced his nominees for three state departments today, along with two more staff hires.
LePage is recommending Darryl N. Brown of Livermore Falls to head the Department of Environmental Protection; Norman H. Olsen to lead the Department of Marine Resources; and Philip A. Congdon of Bristol to head the Department of Economic and Community Development.
Brown is president of Main-Land Development Consultants in Livermore Falls. Olsen is a former commercial fisherman, federal regulator and U.S. diplomat. Congdon is a licensed professional engineer and former executive at Texas Instruments in Dallas.
The nominees are all subject to legislative approval.
Also, LePage announced that Mary Mayhew, formerly of the Maine Hospital Association, and Stephen Bowen, formerly of the Maine Heritage Policy Center, will join his staff as policy advisers. Mayhew will handle health care issues and the Department of Conservation, and Bowen will lead on education issues.
