LEWISTON – Bates scored the first seven points in overtime and held off Colby for a 93-87 victory Thursday night in a college women’s basketball game.

Lauren Dobish had 21 points for the Bobcats (10-2), and Jessie Igoe had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Igoe’s jumper with 11 seconds left in regulation tied the game at 77 and forced overtime.

Diana Manduca led the Mules (8-2) with 32 points and Aarika Ritchie scored 21.

BOWDOIN 88, EMERSON 47: The Polar Bears (10-1) used a 30-4 run midway through the first half to cruise past the Lions (2-9) at Brunswick.

Alexa Barry had 13 points and six rebounds for Bowdoin. Katie Bergeron had 12 points with six assists, and Jill Henrikson and Amy Hackett each scored 11.

UNE 80, HUSSON 61: Beth Suggs scored 18 points as the Nor’easters (7-5) topped the Eagles (2-8) at Biddeford.

Kelley Paradis added 17 points and Carrie Bunnell scored 16 for UNE, which took control with a 28-9 run midway through the first half.

(3) DUKE 71, (14) MARYLAND 64: Jasmine Thomas scored seven of her 22 points in the final two minutes and Duke (15-0, 1-0 ACC) rallied past visiting Maryland (13-2, 0-1).

(5) TENNESSEE 110, ALABAMA 45: Glory Johnson scored 19 points as Tennessee (14-2, 2-0 SEC) cruised to a win over Alabama (11-4, 0-2) at Knoxville, Tenn.

GEORGIA TECH 71, (8) NORTH CAROLINA 70: Metra Walthour hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 23.6 seconds remaining, Tyaunna Marshall scored 24 points and Georgia Tech (13-4, 1-0 ACC) upset North Carolina (15-1, 0-1) at Atlanta.

(25) ARKANSAS 78, (10) KENTUCKY 67: C’eira Ricketts scored 19 points to lead Arkansas (13-1, 1-1 SEC) to a win over Kentucky (11-3, 0-1) at Fayetteville, Ark.

(11) MICHIGAN 62, WISCONSIN 43: Kalisha Keane had 12 points and 11 rebounds as Michigan State (14-1, 2-0 Big Ten) overcame a rocky start to beat visiting Wisconsin (7-8, 2-1).

(24) FLORIDA STATE 79, VIRGINIA TECH 48: Chasity Clayton scored 16 points to lead Florida State (13-3, 1-0 ACC) over Virginia Tech (9-6, 0-1) at Blacksburg, Va.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

BOWDOIN 66, ST. JOSEPH’S 61: Will Hanley had 23 points and eight rebounds as the Polar Bears (8-2) edged the Monks (5-4) at Standish.

Maximilian Staiger and Ryan O’Connell added 12 points apiece for Bowdoin, with O’Connell also grabbing 10 rebounds.

Zach O’Brien and Chris Petzy each scored 13 for St. Joseph’s.

COLBY 75, HUSSON 70: Mike Russell had 23 points and 20 rebounds to help the Mules (6-6) defeat the Eagles (7-4) at Bangor.

Ben Foreman added 13 points for Colby, including a 3-point shot to give the Mules a 70-68 lead with 2:06 to play.

Josh Jones paced Husson with 26 points.

(7) VILLANOVA 83, SOUTH FLORIDA 71: Corey Stokes scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half to lead Villanova (13-1, 2-0 Big East) past South Florida (6-10, 0-3) at Tampa, Fla.

(20) ILLINOIS 88, NORTHWESTERN 63: Demetri McCamey scored 14 points, Mike Tisdale added 13 and Illinois (13-3, 3-0 Big Ten) routed Northwestern (9-4, 0-3) at Champaign, Ill.

(23) WASHINGTON 87, OREGON 69: Freshman Terrence Ross scored 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting and Washington (11-3, 3-0 Pac-10) shut down Oregon in the final 12 minutes, pulling away for a victory at Seattle (7-8, 0-3).

(24) CINCINNATI 66, XAVIER 46: Yancy Gates scored a season-high 22 points and Cincinnati (15-0) extended the second-best start in school history, beating Xavier (8-5) at Cincinnati.
