KITTERY — A 270-foot Coast Guard cutter is returning to its home port in Maine after spending two months in Florida and the waters off Haiti.
The Tahoma is scheduled to arrive in Kittery this afternoon.
Coast Guard officials say during the deployment, the crew stopped a high-speed vessel loaded with $7.4 million worth of marijuana, rescued 127 Haitians from an overloaded freighter and arrested a person on multiple warrants during a routine fishing boat boarding.
The crew also spent three weeks in training in Mayport, Fla., honing skills in seamanship, combat systems, navigation, damage control and casualty response.
