GORHAM – In a closed-door meeting, Gorham town councilors met Tuesday to evaluate Town Clerk Christina Silberman.

Matt Robinson, Town Council chairman, called the special meeting to order at 4 p.m. with all seven town councilors present and Bill Dale, the town’s lawyer, along with Silberman, in a conference room adjacent to the office of Town Manager David Cole.

Councilors voted unanimously 7-0 to meet in executive session, which excludes the public. Cole was not in the room.

The closed-door session continued for more than two hours. Cole said Wednesday the council after the executive session didn’t take any action other than adjourning to a workshop to discuss council goals.

Robinson said Wednesday the meeting was a personnel evaluation and discussion of what went on in the executive session meeting is prohibited.

Silberman said earlier this week that her annual evaluation in the past usually had come in March or April.

The Gorham Town Council appointed Silberman to the post on March 1, 2005, in a 5-0 vote with two councilors absent. She began her duties on March 28, 2005. Before coming to Gorham, Silberman was a deputy town clerk in Falmouth and had worked in banking.
