BIDDEFORD — Two youths have been arrested in connection with vandalism at Biddeford High School that led to thousands of dollars worth of damage.

Just after 6 a.m. on Monday, staff from Biddeford High School contacted Biddeford Police to report that the high school had been burglarized.

A classroom and the main office were damaged by strewn papers, magazines and books, and cans of soda were opened and sprayed around the room. A photocopier in the main office was also totally destroyed, according to a statement from Biddeford Deputy Police Chief JoAnne W. Fisk.

Student lockers were also opened and their contents were strewn about the corridor. The school’s cafeteria was entered and various items were thrown about, causing damage to two cash registers and a microwave oven, according to the statement.

Total physical damage to school property is estimated at $4,000, but at this time police have not determined that anything was actually taken during the burglary. It appears that entry was gained through an unlocked door, according to Fisk.

Shortly into the school day, two students spoke with guidance personnel, giving them information related to the burglary, according to Fisk. Detectives followed up on the leads, and arrested two individuals  at 11:25 a.m. Monday at an apartment at 94 Pike St. in Biddeford.

Domenick Colantonio, also known as Domenick Lancaster, 19, of 94 Pike St., was charged with burglary, and a 14-year-old male was also charged with burglary. Police anticipate charging both individuals with criminal mischief as well.

Colantonio was later released on bail from the police department, and the juvenile was transported to Longcreek Detention Center in South Portland, according to Fisk.

As detectives and officers attempted to arrest Colantonio and the juvenile, Colantonio’s mother, Stacey Lancaster, 41, allegedly began interfering with the arrest and assaulted officers. She was arrested and charged with obstructing governmental administration and assault. She was transported to the Biddeford Police Department were she was processed and later released on bail, according to Fisk.
