SOUTH PORTLAND – A water main break on Route 1 will cause problems for evening commuters, the Portland Water District said in a press release.

A water main break has reduced Route 1 in South Portland, between New York and Kenosha, down to two lanes from four, the release said. Construction is expected to last into the evening and will affect commuter hour. To avoid delays, motorists are urged to seek alternate routes.

At this time, the cause is unknown. About 10 customers are without water, including the Wok Inn, the release said.
