Deering broke open a 14-14 game early in the fourth quarter by scoring 21 straight points to beat Portland, 35-14, in the 99th Thanksgiving Day Game Thursday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Renaldo Lowry returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown after Portland had tied the game. Jamie Ross added a one-yard run and Nick DiBiase scored on a 17-yard run, all in the fourth quarter, as Deering (9-3) pulled away.
The Bulldogs (2-7), which hadn’t played a game in over a month, stayed with the favored Rams for three quarters and the start of the fourth. it was Deering’s eighth win in the last nine holiday games. Portland leads in the series, which began in 1911, 54-38-7.
