GRAY – The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fight that occurred in Gray early yesterday morning that injured a 17-year-old, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Deputies were called to 124 Lewiston Road just after midnight on Nov. 11. They found a 17-year-old male, whose name is not being released because of his age, in the bathroom bleeding from cuts to his left ear and right hand. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

The teen said he had been standing outside the residence when another male approached him and started a fight before leaving. The 17-year-old refused to answer any further questions and did not want to press charges.

Family members told investigators that they believe the attack was racially motivated. Detectives continue to investigate the assault.
