BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Michelle Oswald scored twice in the final 4:48 to help rally the University of New England to a 4-3 victory over Bridgewater State in a college field hockey game Tuesday night.
Trailing 3-1 at halftime, the Nor’easters (10-6) cut the deficit when Laura Egounis knocked in a rebound at 51:22. Oswald converted a centering pass from Casey Clark to tie the game with 4:48 remaining.
UNE capped the rally when Michaela Franey set up Oswald with 3:11 to go.
Bree Tupper scored in the first half for UNE. Bethany Bush had two goals for the Bears (8-7).
PLYMOUTH STATE 2, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Jackie Morin and Kristina Conroy scored as the Panthers (11-5) defeated the Monks (12-5) at Plymouth, N.H.
Morin knocked home a rebound with 9:25 left in the first half, and Conroy scored midway through the second.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
SALEM STATE 4, USM 0: Matt Figueiredo had a goal and an assist as the Vikings (7-5-2) beat USM (4-11-1) at Gorham.
Rafael Santos and Jovan Sempa each scored as Salem State took a 2-0 halftime lead. Lamin Sawo and Figueiredo added second-half goals.
David Kreps had two saves in the first half for USM and Jeremy Turner stopped seven shots in the second.
NOTES: The NCAA cleared Louisville freshman center Gorgui Dieng to begin practicing with the team immediately, overturning an earlier decision that ruled him ineligible because of an academic issue. Dieng is from Senegal and spent last season at Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, averaging 15.4 points, 12.6 rebounds and 7.2 blocks.
