WATERVILLE – Colby scored 29 unanswered points in the second half Saturday, pulling away to a 35-7 victory over Hamilton in a New England Small College Athletic Conference football game.

Richard Newton intercepted two passes, returning one 64 yards for a touchdown, and Conor Tidgwell scored a pair of touchdowns for the White Mules (2-3, 2-3) against the Continentals (1-4, 1-4).

Colby quarterback Nick Kmetz was 14 of 22 for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

The Mules took the lead for good, 14-7, on a 1-yard plunge by Tidgwell with 10:48 left in the third quarter and made it 21-7 on Newton’s interception return on Hamilton’s ensuing possession.

 

MIDDLEBURY 22, BATES 9: Donald McKillop completed 38 passes for 365 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Panthers (2-3, 2-3 NESCAC) past the Bobcats (1-4, 1-4) at Middlebury, Vt.

Bates pulled within 10-3 on a 27-yard field goal by Gavin Segall-Abrams with 3:15 left in the second quarter.

Tyler Kuehl scored the Bobcats’ touchdown on a 15-yard interception return with 52 seconds left in the first half.

 

TRINITY 31, BOWDOIN 14: Evan Bunker rushed for 223 yards and a touchdown as the Bantams (4-1, 4-1 NESCAC) scored 28 unanswered points to rally past the Polar Bears (1-4, 1-4) at Brunswick.

The Polar Bears took a 7-3 lead with a 95-yard touchdown pass from Grant White to Sean O’Malley, the longest play from scrimmage in school history.

Bowdoin extended the lead to 14-3 on a 22-yard TD run by White in the second quarter.

MAINE MARITIME 28, MASS. MARITIME 27: Matthew Rende ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns, and Jim Bower and Todd Murphy added one touchdown apiece as the Mariners (6-1, 4-1 New England Football Conference) rallied past the Buccaneers (4-4, 3-2) at Castine.

 

CASTLETON STATE 55, HUSSON 51: Tyler Carpenter scored the winning touchdown on a 2-yard run with 50 seconds left to lift the Spartans (4-3, 4-1 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference) over the Eagles (1-7, 1-4) at Bangor.

Justin Lindie ran for 246 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries to pace Husson; Byron Jackson added 170 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries.

MARYLAND 24, BOSTON COLLEGE 21: Safety Antwine Perez had two interceptions and a fumble recovery, and Danny O’Brien threw for three touchdowns to lead visiting Maryland (5-2, 2-1 ACC) over Boston College (2-5, 0-4).

 

UNH 39, UMASS 13: Quarterback R.J. Toman ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as New Hampshire (5-3, 3-2 CAA) beat Massachusetts (4-2, 2-2) at Durham, N.H.

 

PENNSYLVANIA 27, YALE 20: Luke DeLuca had two touchdown runs, helping Pennsylvania (5-1, 3-0 Ivy League) get past Yale (4-2, 2-1) at New Haven, Conn.

SACRED HEART 33, GEORGETOWN 20: Jesper Fredriksson made four field goals to lead Sacred Heart (2-6) past Georgetown (3-5) at Fairfield, Conn.

 

HARVARD 45, PRINCETON 28: Gino Gordon carried 20 times for 204 yards and Treavor Scales 16 times for 134 yards as Harvard (4-2, 2-1 Ivy League) defeated Princeton (1-5, 0-3) at Princeton, N.J.

 

HOLY CROSS 31, COLGATE 24: Ryan Taggart threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Bill Edger with five seconds remaining to propel Holy Cross (4-4, 1-1 Patriot League) past Colgate (4-3, 1-1) at Hamilton, N.Y.
