FREEPORT — The Sewer District was awarded a $250,000 grant for electrical efficiency upgrades through Efficiency Maine.

Michael Ashby, vice chairman of the district Board of Trustees, said in a press release that the implementation of the technology will reduce the facility’s energy consumption by 40 percent.

The Woodard & Curran engineering firm designed the efficiency upgrades for the plant on South Freeport Road.
