MILTON, Mass. — Katie Caron and Lauren Blaisdell both scored in the second half to lead the University of New England past Curry College 2-0 in a women’s soccer match on Tuesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Caron scored in the 56th minute of a feed from Katy Marshall. Blaisdell added the second goal 20 minutes later, one-timing a pass from Sarah Richardson.
Goalie Jess Woodworth made 14 saves for the Nor’easters (11-4, 8-3). Samantha Hardy had seven for Curry (9-6, 7-4).
HUSSON 1, COLBY 0: Michelle Manning scored for Husson (11-5-1) against the Mules (4-5-3), at Bangor.
Rebecca Jones fed Manning in the 20th minute, beating two defenders and keeper Loni Pisani (3 saves).
FRAMINGHAM STATE 4, USM 1: Three goals in the second half propelled the Rams (7-7-0) past the Huskies (4-12-0) at Framingham, Mass.
The Rams held a 1-0 lead in the first half on a score from Megan Gangell. The Huskies tied it five minutes into the second when senior Heidi DeHaan sent a long cross to Chelsea Norton, who tucked the ball into the lower corner. The Rams took the lead on a penalty kick by Laura Gray two minutes later.
BATES 2. ST. JOPSEPH’S 1: Midfielder Emily Wiener scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute as the Bobcats (6-5-1) edged the Monks (6-7-1) at Lewiston.
Bates took the lead in the third minute on a goal from Tina Tobin and the Bobcats went on to outshoot the Monks 19-4 in the first half.
The Monks held defensively and tied it up with 9:37 left in the contest when Jessica Capozzi scored off a rebound. The winner came 1:12 later. Wiener took a pass from Alix Vandeventer and scored from the top of the Monks penalty area.
St. Joseph’s goalie Jaci Lorenzen made 10 saves. Bobcat keeper Annie Burns had two.
MEN’S SOCCER
BOWDOIN 7, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Zach Danssaert scored three times during Bowdoin’s (8-1-2) victory over Southern Maine (4-9-2) at Gorham.
Eddie Jones added a goal and two assists. Tim Prior, Evan Gershkovich and Michael Gale also scored.
UNIV. OF NEW ENGLAND 4, CURRY 4: Kiel Hiller scored with 2:25 left in regulation as the Nor’easters (3-7-5, 1-6-4 TCCC) rallied for a tie with Curry (6-10-1, 3-7-1) at Milton, Mass.
Hiller scored on a breakaway, tucking a shot into the lower right corner.
Kyle McGlone had two goals for UNE, and Kevin Tarr one.
FOOTBALL
RUTGERS: Paralyzed junior defensive tackle Eric LeGrand is responsive and aware of the difficult road ahead, says Coach Greg Schiano, who described him as being in “good spirits.”
Schiano did not update LeGrand’s medical condition but said he’s seen him every day since LeGrand was paralyzed from the neck down after making a special teams tackle against Army on Saturday.
“He goes through different periods,” Schiano said.
“… He has been very responsive at times, and very aware. He knows. I have tried to keep him informed. It’s only been, even though it feels like a number of days, it’s only been a few days.
