YARMOUTH – Luke Pierce scored twice from Pau Melero as Yarmouth closed in on an unbeaten regular season with a 3-0 victory against York in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy soccer game.

Sam Torres added a goal with just over 10 minutes remaining for the Clippers (12-0-1), who will close their regular season Monday at home against Greely. Chris Knaub needed one save for his eighth shutout.

Noah Rickerich made three saves for the Wildcats (7-4-1).

The teams are on course to meet in a Western Class B semifinal.

 

GORHAM 1, MARSHWOOD 1: Alex McLean scored with 6:09 left in the second half to help the Hawks (8-3-2) tie Gorham (8-3-2) at South Berwick.

Drew Hopkins of the Rams scored after 5:38.

 

SCARBOROUGH 4, SANFORD 0: Scarborough (11-2) got goals from four players and Peter Moore made three saves for the shutout against the Redskins (5-7-1) at Sanford.

Andrew Jones, Brett Leighton and Austin Wilcox provided first-half goals. Kevin Philbrick scored in the second half.

Cody McFarland and Matt Ranberg combined for five saves for Sanford.

MASSABESIC 5, BIDDEFORD 1: Tyler Twombly scored three unanswered goals to break a 1-1 tie as Massabesic (2-9) defeated Biddeford (0-13) at Waterboro.

Johnny Strandburg opened the scoring for the Mustangs just 1:30 into the match, and Tyler Emery tied it 10 minutes later. Twombly scored twice before the end of the half and opened the second half with another goal. Brian Wardwell added the final goal with 10 minutes left.

 

MEDOMAK VALLEY 3, GARDINER 2: Isaac Durkee scored with 13:57 remaining to lift the Panthers (3-8-2) over the Tigers (2-10-1) at Waldoboro.

Medomak Valley took a 2-0 lead on first-half goals by Vincent Vannah and Chris Morrill. Gardiner tied it on goals by Zachary Abram and Daniel Delgallo in the final 13 minutes of the half.

NOBLE 4, BONNY EAGLE 3: Jacob Emard scored twice in the final 14 minutes to lift the Knights (3-8-1) over the Scots (5-6-2) at Standish.

Emard broke a 2-2 tie with 14 minutes remaining, then made it 4-2 seven minutes later.

Joshua Morrill and Brandon Vigneault also scored for Noble. Steven Campbell made nine saves.

Ryan Jordan scored twice on penalty kicks for Bonny Eagle. Joey Collins also had a goal.

 

DEERING 2, CHEVERUS 1: Augustine Solleux broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second half and the visiting Rams (4-8-1) held off the Stags (7-5-1) at Portland.

Alexander Hoglund put Cheverus ahead 12 minutes in from Nick Melville. Solleux set up Charlie Dupee for the tying goal 10 minutes later.

Jamie Gullbrand turned away 10 shots for Deering. Peter Pott-hoff made three saves for the Stags.

 

KENNEBUNK 1, WINDHAM 1: Dan Snyder scored with eight minutes remaining as the Rams (7-4-2) tied Windham (7-4-2) at Kennebunk.

Bryan Soucy scored for the Eagles midway through the first half.

CALVARY CHAPEL 10, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 1: Derek Russell scored three goals, and Stephen Berenji and Peter Gorczok each had two to lead Calvary Chapel (12-0) past Greater Portland Christian (6-6) at Orrington.

Ben Hammond scored late for the Lions.

FALMOUTH 10, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Jamie Sabo had two goals as the Yachtsmen (7-5-1) downed Gray-New Gloucester (4-6-2) at Falmouth.

The Yachtsmen led 6-0 by halftime. Other scorers included Alex Bernier, Mary Kowalsky, Allie Lycan, Jessica DiPhilippo, Jenna Page, Maddy Inlow, Megan Miller and Abby Cavalero.

BONNY EAGLE 2, WEST-BROOK 1: The Scots (4-7-2) scored twice in the second half to beat the Blue Blazes (3-10) at Standish.

Jess MacDonald prevented a Westbrook clear and sent the ball to Brenna Martin, who scored about 9:30 into the second half to make it 1-1.

Andrea Pelayo got the winner when she bounced a shot from the end line off the Westbrook keeper.

Vanessa Bradbury converted a penalty kick in the first half for Westbrook.

Marisa Butler stopped four shots for the Scots.

GREELY 8, WAYNFLETE 0: Kelly Burrell scored three goals, and Sammi Toorish added two goals and an assist to lead the Rangers (8-3-2) past the Flyers (6-4-1) at Cumberland.

Maggie Johnson and Sara Schad added a goal and an assist apiece.

 

YORK 1, YARMOUTH 0: Kayla Swasey scored off a through pass from Alexa Bando with 24 minutes left to lift the Wildcats (10-1-2) over Yarmouth (11-1-1) at York.

Carly Lee made three saves for the shutout. Olivia Smith had 10 stops for Yarmouth.

SCARBOROUGH 6, WESTBROOK 1: Kristen Felt had two goals and two assists, and Stephanie Felt also scored twice as the Red Storm captured the Southern Maine Activities Association championship at Scarborough.

Ellie Walker and Sarah Bunting each had a goal for the Red Storm. Shannon Hicks, Rebecca Mitchell and Carli McLellan combined for seven saves.

Allison Lemay scored for Westbrook.

KENNEBUNK 3, GORHAM 0: Taylor Hanson had seven aces, four kills and eight digs as the Rams defeated Gorham 27-25, 25-18, 25-19 at Kennebunk.

Vicki Parker added eight digs and two kills, and Kaitlyn Seehusen contributed six assists with three digs and two aces.
