PORTLAND — A Portland man is being held on charges he robbed another man at knifepoint early Monday morning.

Police were called to 704 Congress St. where a man reported being robbed as he left a convenience store just before 1 a.m. He told police a man put a knife to his throat and stole the small amount of cash he had with him and his cell phone.

Police spotted Modou Fall, 47, a man with an extensive criminal record who matched the description given by the victim, on Grant Street and found the cell phone in his possession, police said. Officers arrested Fall, charging him with robbery and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
