A York County grand jury has indicted an Old Orchard Beach man on a charge of manslaughter in connection with a car crash that killed a pedestrian on her way to church this summer.
Walter Fleury, 66, was driving a minivan in Saco at 9:45 a.m. on July 11 when the van hit and killed Constance Orendorf, 74, as she was crossing Main Street.
Fleury was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and released on $400 bail. Police said Fleury was visibly impaired and unable to provide details about the crash. A breath test showed he hadn’t been drinking, but police were investigating whether medications, age or illness could have contributed to the crash.
