PROVIDENCE, R.I.

Teen will face more charges related to fatal van accident

More charges have been filed against a 14-year-old boy accused of crashing a stolen van into a car in Providence, killing a 9-year-old girl.

Authorities said the boy was charged Friday with breaking and entering, larceny and leaving the scene of an accident. He’s already been charged with operating to endanger, death resulting.

Police said the new charges are related to the boy’s alleged break into the Nickerson House Community Center, from where he allegedly stole the van involved in the accident.

Police say they were pursuing the boy on Route 10 last Saturday when he crossed the median and crashed head-on with a car, killing 9-year-old Alexis Silva, a fourth-grader from Cranston.
