BANGOR — Federal prosecutors say a jury has convicted a Maine man of 13 counts of wire fraud.

Fifty-year-old Todd Denson, of Stockton Springs, was convicted Wednesday following a four-day trial in U.S. District Court in Bangor. Denson faces up to 20 years on each count and up to $250,000 in fines.

Witnesses said Denson solicited loans for money in an advance fee scheme that ended up defrauding seven investors of more than $20,000.

U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty II says Denson was on supervised release from prison at the time of those crimes. He had been sentenced previously to 18 months for mail and wire fraud in a similar scheme.
