Today’s approaching storm and its forecast for heavy rains and winds, forced many local high schools to postpone athletic events.

Nine local high school football games were moved from Friday night to Saturday:

Camden Hills at Gardiner (4 p.m.), Cony at Brunswick (6 p.m.), Freeport at Old Orchard Beach (3 p.m.), Hampden Academy at Morse (4 p.m.), Massabesic at Bonny Eagle (1 p.m.), Poland at Lake Region (7 p.m.), Sacopee Valley at Boothbay Region (1 p.m.), Westbrook at Sanford (7 p.m.) and York at Greely (1 p.m.).

In addition, most field hockey and soccer games were moved as well, though to varying dates.
