Sept. 10-11: The Little Meetinghouse on Route 302 in North Windham will host a 2-day quilt exhibit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring antique family quilts and over 75 quilts made by Windham quilter Jeanne Wright. Donations of $3 at the door help preserve the old church building.
Saturday, Sept. 11: The 9th Annual Good Old Fashioned Variety Show, to benefit the Monday Meals program, takes place at 7 p.m. at Windham Assembly of God, 1051 Roosevelt Trail (Rt. 302) in North Windham. Sept. 11: Third annual Food Pantry benefit at 516 Anderson Road, Sebago (Aucoin’s front lawn). 2-6 p.m. Rain date Sept. 12. Entertainment by Gene Bahr and the Phoenix Five. Also featuring clown duo Chicklet and Reco-ve-ree. Donations of food or cash will be accepted for the food pantry.Free hotdogs with all the trimmings provided. Bring dessert, dish or salad to share. Sept. 11: Project Linus Holiday Book and Blanket Show at North Windham Union Church, United Church of Christ, 723 Roosevelt Trail (Route 302), Windham, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join Project Linus “Blanketeers” for a display of winter/holiday season blankets with an attached book for winter giving. Come and learn more about Project Linus and its involvement in the Cumberland County community. Also, David Packham, Jr., author of A Mother’s Dream, a supply of which has been donated to Project Linus, will be on hand.
Sept. 11-12: Naples will be the gathering place of Native Americans from various tribal affiliations at the 3rd Annual Sacred Spirits Intertribal Pow Wow. There will be native drums, singing, dancing, flute playing and storytelling. Visit the many native craft and clothing booths, try a buffalo burger, watch a native demonstration or just bring a chair and relax to the music while watching the colorful dancers in their regalia. Sept. 12: The Windham Athletic Boosters will be hosting the 17th Annual Windham Auto Show at Windham High School. The show will feature hundreds of cars, bikes, and trucks competing in 27 different classes. There is something for everyone. Great cars, trucks, bikes, food and fun. Gates open at 8 a.m., judging starts at 11, awards at 2:30 p.m. Admission: Adults $5, Seniors $3, Students/children $2, Show cars (drivers and one guest) $5 donation welcome.
Sept. 13-14: Schoolhouse Arts Center in Sebago Lake Village will be holding auditions for Miracle on 34th Street, directed by Keith Halliburton from 6-8:30 p.m. Performance dates are Dec. 3-19 and actors must be available for tech rehearsal Nov. 28. Saturday, Sept. 18: The Knights of Columbus are hosting a spaghetti dinner to benefit Boy Scout Troop 805 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in North Windham at 5 p.m. The cost is $6 per adult and $3 per child.
Sept. 18: A Touch-a-Truck fundraiser is being held to benefit the Community Auxiliary Food Pantry in Gray from 11am-1pm (rain or shine). There will be lots of trucks and construction equipment for kids to explore and sit in the driver’s seat. It is being held in the Gray Marketplace parking lot (Route 100 in Gray). The suggested donation is $2 per person with a max of $10 per family.
There will be vehicles and drivers from Whitney Tree Service, All Right Towing, F.A. Wing Paving, P&K Sand and Gravel, Hancock Lumber, J.P. Beote Inc., Copp Motors, Troiano Waste Services, Gray Fire-Rescue, and Gray Public Works. Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase at the event for the chance to win gift certificates from local businesses, including Scizzor Hands, Spring Meadows golf, Gray Marketplace, Marden’s, B&R Dairy Bar, and Jess and Nic’s.

Tuesday, Sept. 28: Starting Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., informational sessions exploring Hospice and Volunteer opportunities in your community will be held at Crooked River Adult Education Center in Casco, at no cost. We strive to connect you with opportunities that are available in your community. Opportunities currently available in: Bridgton, Canton, Fryeburg, Lewiston, Norway, Oxford, So. Paris, Rumford, West Paris and elsewhere in Androscoggin and Oxford counties, Maine. Oct. 7: Comedian Bob Marley will perform at Lake Region High School at 7 p.m. Only adults over 18 will be admitted to the show. Tickets are $20 each.
