SCARBOROUGH – It looks like the Scarborough 9/10 year-old softball all-stars will be going on a little road trip.

Last Sunday, they punched their ticked for the regional championship by winning the Maine state championship with a 14-4 win over Biddeford in Waldoboro.

The next stop for the champs from Scarborough is the Eastern Division Invitational tournament in Scranton, Pa., which begins in the city best known for being the home of the fictional Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company from TV’s “The Office”, on July 31.

The Scarborough all-stars started off their run to a Maine state title on the wrong foot, dropping their first game 5-2 to Biddeford. But one loss away from elimination, the girls went on a championship-caliber run, using an explosive offense, strong pitching, sound fielding and consistent hitting to blow past their next three opponents by a combined score of 33-6 to bring the state championship banner back to Scarborough.

The 2010 Scarborough All-Stars are: Erin Ryan, Hannah Ricker, Chloe Griffin, Abbie Murrell, Felicia O’Reilly, Emily Jefferds, Laura Powell, Hunter Greenleaf, Lucy Bogdanovich, Courtney Brochu, Lindsey Kelley and Samantha Carriero. Tim Griffin and Paul Murrell coach the team.
